Since three years I want to reduce the use of aerosols in the house. Also for our personal hygiene we eliminated aerosols. So no dry shampoos, unless in other packaging, no hairproducts in aerosol packaging and no deodorants in aerosol packaging.
First I just bought a roller, but I also wanted to live more consciously and use recycable packaging with no plastic. The first one I bought was with microsilver, but this didn’t work for me. I tried a lot of options, to be short most of them contain aluminium salts which irritated me a lot. Actually I ended up with red burnt hurting pits.
Before you start…
I didn’t do this, but it’s really important you do! Detox your pits!
What does this mean?
We built up a lot of sweat blocking ingrediënts in the pores of our pits. When switching to deodorants that don’t block our pores, these ingrediënts will leave your body. This is the cause of a possible intenser scent of our sweat.
Most people judge about the natural deodorant in those days and stop their attempt!
You shouldn’t!
Better start with a detoxifying wash of your pits the first week of usage of natural deo. What is a detoxifying wash? You best use something with charcoal, as charcoal has the characteristic to absorb toxic ingrediënts. Pacifica has a beautiful product to do this, it’s the only brand I know that has developed a product specifically for this purpose.
You wil notice your pits will feel softer and softer during the week and the natural deodorant will work better and better!
Sensitive Skin
If you have sensitive skin, you should avoid the aluminium salts and baking soda, as these often cause irritation. So look out for these ingredients to check if the deodorant is suitable for you.
Abundant Sweater
If you are an abundant sweater you need corn starch or Zinc ricinoleate as an ingredïent in your deodorant as it absorbs humidity well and these don’t irritate.
